Mertesacker named in Germany squad


Arsenal defender Per Mertesacker has been included in Germany's provisional squad for Euro 2012 despite being out of action since February.

The big centre-back has missed virtually 3 months of action with an ankle injury that needed reconstructive surgery.



The procedure dominated him out of the rest of the domestic campaign and place his look in Poland and Ukraine in jeopardy.

However, the 27-year-old has been known as up by Germany head coach Joachim Loew, raising the prospect of him adding to his seventy nine international caps.
